R.I.P. to Hazell Stoudemire Jr.
The brother of Amare Stoudemire, Hazell Stoudemire Junior, died in a car accident the other night and since then his brother Amare has taken an “indefinite leave of absence”. The facts are not good. Hazell Jr. was driving at a “high rate of speed”, wasn’t wearing a seatbelt, and drinking MAY have been involved from Hazell Jr’s side. Those are three things he should not have been doing and someone else could’ve been hurt as well. But, he was a son and a brother and this incident has left a hole in the hearts of people. Chanting and cheering against Amare Stoudemire is something we all do as Pacers fans, but this day is an exception. You can tweet him support @Amareisreal. I know every show of love will help just a little bit so please do. Also, everyone please drive safe and tell people you love them. Any of us could die just going to a Pacer game, so treat every day like your last.
Chris Kaman Isn’t Coming
This was a very short-lived dream for any Pacers fan and for good reason. Kaman was being openly shopped by New Orleans recently. In a very quick turn of events, the New Orleans Times-Picayune is reporting that Chris will once again play for the Hornets. What does this mean? Well, rumors were that David Stern and Dell Demps (Hornets GM) were asking for young talent, draft picks, and to save money in the process. So, as you can imagine, possible trade partners all said collectively ”HEEELLLLL no”. Larry Bird has said he doesn’t want to make a move to make a move and giving up any one of our key players would really be a big mistake.
The Times Will be a Changin’
How the NBA has gone this season has really gone well for the Pacers. But, what has come to seemingly be the new landscape of the NBA may soon take another turn again. Injuries are one big factor. Derrick Rose, Dwyane Wade, Carmelo Anthony, Brook Lopez, and our own George Hill have been a few that have really made an impact on our season. The way those players return or if new players get hurt could be GIGANTIC component on our playoff standing. Another reason to be weary of change? There’s less reason for players to get hyped. That’s right. It’s the middle of the season and it’s time to find out who can sustain motivation. Some teams will drop across the league because of this.
I Want Bismack Biyombo
Call me stupid, I don’t care. I’m following my heart! I love this guy. Let’s just go through some of his awesome attributes:
- He’s 19, but has the maturity of a 30 year old
- Bismack speaks 5 languages
- Only player in Nike Hoop Summit history to get a triple-double (Points, Rebounds, Blocks)
- Insane physical specimen, he’s got a heart of gold but could crush a common man in one squeeze of his hand
Bismack is averaging 1.4 blocks per game in limited minutes, but is very raw at the offensive end. I would love for Roy and Jim Boylen to get their hands on him and teach him how to put the ball in the basket. It seems like an amazing investment with him taking minutes like Lou Amundson in the meantime. Would you people in internet land like Bismack? First rounder and maybe a little more? Hmmmmm?
